We were thrilled to win the ‘Social Enterprise of the Year’ award at the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence awards for 2022.
A LOT of people got us to where we are now… so we would like to give a huge thanks to…
Firstly our amazing volunteers led by Astra our Volunteer Co-Ordinator. There is no doubt we could not maintain our project without the support and hard work of each and every one of our trusty team. From front of house, to kitchen , to collections, to cleaning, to accounting, to photography, to weedkilling, to maintenance and to building flat packed Swedish furniture. From the ones who turn up every single week for a regular stint to those who have had a spare couple of hours and chosen to spend it with us. You are all part of the team and this award is for everyone.
Secondly all the local businesses and eateries who have helped us get to this point. Whether you have lent or gifted us equipment, donated your surplus food, answered our questions or trained our staff and volunteers. The support you have given us has been remarkable and played no small part in getting us here.
Thirdly the supermarkets that continuously donate their surplus food to us, some with more care and understanding than others but all helping us in the fight to combat unnecessary food waste.
Fourthly…YOU! Our lovely customers. Some who come every week without fail for lunch, breakfast or just a coffee to support us. You help create the lovely atmosphere that has been commented on numerous times and make Café ReCharge a great place to be.
We were up against two amazing and well deserving organisations At Birkhill House CIC and The General Store, Selkirk and we really did not mind who won it on the night. 😀
