Pay What You Can
Every week, from Wednesday to Friday, our meals are Pay What You Can (PWYC). But how does it work? Read on to find out...
Weekday Menu
Why Adopt PWYC?
At Café ReCharge we charge a fixed price for our hot and cold drinks but all our food is offered on a PWYC basis. We suggest prices, but all payments are taken anonymously, either cash in our fabric envelopes or via card.
We are not a charity; we are a CIC (Community Interest Company) and run like any other café. Although the majority of the food we cook with is donated, we still have all the normal overheads of a hospitality business: e.g. staffing, rent, utilities and insurance, to name but a few.

PWYC Guide
How much should I pay?
As a CIC, we rely on the generosity of our wonderful community to help us help others less fortunate.
Financially stable?
If you are looking for delicious food and value our ethos, please pay what you’d pay in any other café. Any profit we make after the bills are paid goes back to the community we support.
Struggling a bit this week?
As close as you can get to our suggested prices is fine. Our payment system is anonymous. And you can always add a little extra when you can.
Struggling to afford even the basics?
We’ve got you covered. No one should go hungry when there is so much surplus food going to waste. We have free meal tokens available on a board at the entrance so please help yourself if you feel you need one. These can go in the envelope instead of payment or be handed in to our counter staff at the point of ordering.
Feeling flush?
Do you want to create positivity in your community whilst supporting our eco and social mission? Are you fortunate enough to be able to contribute a bit extra? By paying a bit more than the suggested prices for your food you are helping others to be able to pay a little less.

Donate or Pay It Forward
If you would like to support our mission you can do so by making a donation or taking part in our Pay It Forward Sheme.
